Hariette Pilbeam, best known for her stage name Hatchie, is an Australian rising star born and raised in Brisbane.
Influenced by Wolf Alice and Kylie Minogue, the young singer and songwriter spent the past few years honing her power-pop chops in such brilliant indie rock bands as Babaganouj and Go Violets.
As a solo artist, Hatchie debuted this year the song “Try”.
New single is the dream-pop cut “Sure”.
“I wrote ‘Sure’ about people I know falling in and out of the same relationship issues as we grew out of our teens into early adulthood,” Hatchie explained. “When I initially wrote it, it was about a couple that decided to give it ‘one more shot’ over and over again because they couldn’t bare to be apart. When I think about all the lyrics now I realise that it could be interpreted in a number of different ways.”
The music video for “Sure” was directed by boyfriend and touring band member Joe Agius.
About it, she added “We wanted something really simple in the studio that incorporated the band. I had this friend who had a wall of TV monitors, and I’d made a note to myself to always remember he had them. And I remembered when we were trying to brainstorm this one, because we wanted a beautiful visual that wasn’t anything too specific.”
“Sure” is taken from Hatchie’s upcoming EP “Sugar & Spice”, which is expected to be released in 2018.
